How long have you been working at Guerrini and what do you do?
I have been working here for eight years now. This was my first job, and I got here thanks to a recommendation by some family members who already knew the company.
I take care of incoming raw materials and outgoing product, prepare deliveries and check that everything is as ordered. I am a link between purchasing, production, and logistics. It’s a job that requires concentration and the ability to assess the yield of various materials in good time.

You wear a turban…
Yes, I wear a turban to collect and protect my hair, which I have never cut since birth. I was born in India, in Punjab, and I am a Sikh. When I was younger, there was a moment when I thought of cutting my hair, to help my mother, because it’s not easy to maintain such long hair… it takes time. But then I decided to keep it growing. By choice: in my religion there is no obligation. When I arrived in Italy as a child, more than 18 years ago now, I used to be teased about my hairstyle and I was disappointed. As I got older, I learned to explain why and then everything became easier.

But is Jimmy your name?
No, Jimmy is a nickname my schoolmates gave me because they saw similarities with Jimi Hendrix. I liked it and since then I’ve simply been called Jimmy… also to make life easier for everyone: my birth name is not easy for Italians to pronounce. It’s a name that has no meaning, it was simply dreamt up by my grandfather, the night before I was born.

What do you like to do?
I love drawing, I really like art, I like experimenting and spending time trying to fix disused mechanical objects. It relaxes me and the risk is small: after all, if it doesn’t go well, I won’t lose anything.

How do you see yourself in the future?
I see myself here, in Guerrini. Of course I would like to grow, learn many new things and with time take on more responsibility. It’s a company that I’ve been seeing grow for 8 years and I know it can grow a lot more.
